About Olgun

A boarding secondary school for boys in Tomondo, Unguja. Our motto is three words: Discipline. Knowledge. Bright Future.

Our school

Olgun opened in 2018. Today 40 boys from Form 1 to Form 4 live and study on one campus in Tomondo, with room for 100. Eight teachers, including the Principal, and ten boarding staff look after them.

Boys sit the Zanzibar Form 2 examination set by the Zanzibar Examinations Council (BMZ) and the national Form 4 examination, the CSEE, set by NECTA. Our first Form 4 class sat the CSEE in 2025: all 15 boys passed, 14 of them in Division I or II.

Every boy boards. The school day, evening study, meals, prayer and sport all happen on the same campus, and ten adults are on campus every night.

What our motto means

Discipline.
A structured day, clear rules and adults who keep them, so boys can concentrate on learning.
Knowledge.
Careful teaching of the national curriculum, laboratory practicals and supervised evening prep every school day.
Bright Future.
Results that open the next door, and good character that boys carry with them after Form 4.

Our name

The school is named after the late Arif Ahmet Denizolgun. A short account of his life and why the school carries his name, written with the school.

In Zanzibar many families know the school as Madrasatul Suleymania.
