Health, food and wellbeing
What happens when he is ill, what he eats, and who he can talk to when something is wrong.
When he is ill
A trained first aider looks after boys who feel unwell, in the school’s first-aid room.
For anything serious we take him to Maryam Hospital, about two minutes from the school, and call you straight away.
- Medicines
- A named member of the boarding staff keeps all medicines and gives them to the boys. If your son needs prescribed medicine, hand it to the boarding staff when he arrives.
- Medical form
- Before he joins, you fill in a medical form about his allergies and health conditions. No vaccination certificate is required.
- Insurance and costs
- Medical insurance is not required. Parents pay for hospital visits and any treatment outside school.
Meals
Three cooked meals a day from the school kitchen. All food is halal.
Tea and a snack at break times. Drinking-water taps on every floor.
If your son has an allergy or a special diet, tell us on the medical form, and the kitchen will make him a separate meal.
Someone to talk to
- His house parent
- House staff meet each boy one to one once a month.
- Worries and concerns
- A boy, or his parents, can always speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Who looks after him
- Rest and exercise
- Every weekday has time for sport and free time, and a fixed time for lights out. See a school day
