Work at Olgun
Teachers and boarding staff at a boys' boarding secondary school in Tomondo, Unguja.
Why work here
We look for teachers and boarding staff who care about boys as much as about results, and who are happy to be part of a small school where everyone knows everyone.
- The school
- Olgun has 40 boys, all boarders, with room for 100. It teaches Forms 1 to 4 and prepares boys for the national NECTA exams. There are eight teachers, including the Principal, and ten boarding staff.
- Small classes
- Classes have up to 20 boys, so you know every boy you teach and can follow his progress closely.
- Faith and discipline
- Lessons are taught in English, alongside Islamic studies, in a school where prayer and good character shape the day.

Safer recruitment
Olgun is committed to safeguarding the boys in its care, and expects every member of staff to share that commitment.
Every appointment is subject to checks of identity, qualifications and references, and a police clearance certificate. Staff who have lived or worked abroad also provide a criminal record certificate from that country. Teachers need the qualifications required by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Zanzibar.
Every new member of staff reads our safeguarding and child protection policy before starting work.
