Academics
Boys study from Form 1 to Form 4 on one campus. They sit the Zanzibar Form 2 examination and, in Form 4, the national CSEE.
Forms we teach
Olgun is a secondary school for boys from Form 1 to Form 4. Boys join Form 1 aged between 12 and 15.
- Form 1
- Strong foundations in every subject, with boys working both on their own and in groups.
- Form 2
- Boys sit the Zanzibar Form 2 examination at the end of the year. To prepare them, the school adds teaching time and sets weekly tests and monthly exams.
- Form 3
- Boys build on the work of Forms 1 and 2 and begin preparing for the Form 4 national examination.
- Form 4
- Boys sit the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), set by NECTA. Our first Form 4 class sat it in 2025.

Both examinations are set and marked outside the school, and the results are published on the examining body's own website.

How teaching works
- Lessons
- Lessons start at 7:30 am, with a second block after lunch from 2:00 pm. Classes are small: Olgun has 40 boys across four Forms.
- Laboratory
- Science lessons include practical work in the school laboratory, in every lesson that needs it.
- Library
- Boys can use the library at any time.
- Evening prep
- Supervised evening prep every school day after supper, with teachers on duty.
- Tests and reports
- Monthly tests, mid-term exams and end-of-term exams. Parents receive a report about a week after each one.
